School Spotlight: Imagine Coolidge Elementary
We love when a school makes math feel like magic — and Imagine Coolidge Elementary (Coolidge, AZ) really delivered. Earlier this school year, Principal Erik Collins gave his students a big goal: solve one million math problems, and he’d camp out on the school roof.
The students didn’t just meet the challenge — they exceeded it. So, in March, Collins packed his sleeping bag and coffee and climbed onto the roof, ready to keep his promise. He even made a pillow stuffed with paper to represent the mountain of math problems they had completed.
That evening, families came out for an evening gathering, complete with a rooftop storytime and a sweet goodnight song from the crowd. Collins later shared that the night was peaceful — aside from the occasional hum of the rooftop AC units.
The story earned national attention, spotlighting the creativity, joy, and community spirit that made this moment possible. |
